Thursday’s weekly guide to Personal Growth from 4EvaYoung.com
“Make no little plans. They have no magic to stir men’s blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will never die, but long after we are gone will be a living thing, asserting itself with ever-growing insistency. Remember that our sons and grandsons are going to do things that would stagger us. Let your watchword be order and your beacon beauty. Think big.” -Daniel Burnham
The pursuit of personal growth and happiness in life is for many an ongoing endeavor. Once your on the path the abundance of information and resources can sometimes be overwhelming. I’ve no doubt said this before, but I am a firm believer that while information is necessary to make better decisions and choices, it is what we do with that information that is of any worth. There is no point having all the knowledge in the world if you aren’t producing the results you are seeking. As Tony Robbins would say, repetition is the mother of all skill, so I thought I’d take this opportunity for new and loyal readers alike to recap on some of the notable posts of this past three months and hopefully they will inspire you to take new action in your life.
8 Money Secrets From Warren Buffett
If you have never heard of Buffett, Forbes currently ranks him as the third richest man in the world and he is arguably the world’s greatest investor. He has amassed his fortune by making astute investment decisions and investing in businesses. Read Warren Buffett’s Money Secrets.
It is so easy to be caught in the whirlwind of busyness that our lives spiral out of control. The days start to blur together and before you know it days turns into weeks and months turn into years. While you try frantically to get more done, your life is passing you. The demands of modern society means we are constantly driving ourselves that much closer to burn out. And yet how many times do we get a yearning to slow down our lives, to have a respite from the frantic schedules we create for ourselves.
How To Get Yourself Out of Debt
Snowballing consumer spending has resulted in more families than ever drowning in debt. Consumer debt has now exceeded $2 trillion, reports the Federal Reserve Board and this figure is growing by the minute. According to a recent USA Today article about debt, 78 percent of baby boomer’s have mortgage debt, 59 percent have credit card debt, 56 percent have car payments. So if you’re losing the battle to keep up with the cost of living and are tempted with the abundance of easy credit than bear this thought in mind, three out of five American families can’t pay off their credit cards each month.
Achievement of goals is a lifelong pursuit. The day you no longer have a goal or dream to aspire to is the day you begin your process of death so to speak. After all they say if you aren’t growing you are dying.
Maximise Your Time, Maximise Your Success
Learning to manage the limited time we have each day is a common theme in many peoples life. Don’t we all want to be able to squeeze more productivity and efficiency into our days so that we can accomplish more of what we want. A wise person once said, “A millionaire and a beggar both have 24 hours in a day. It’s what they do in these 24 hours that make the difference.”
How To Train Yourself To Be A Morning Person
Have you ever noticed that most high achievers are early risers? It can’t just be a coincidence. It does however make perfect sense. We all are allotted the same 24 hours each day so achievers tend to make better use of it. Like they say “The early bird gets the worm”.
My Top 5 Inspirational And Motivational Videos
Some of the greatest teachers, visionaries and leaders have left a profound mark on scores of people including myself. Other times it is just ordinary people doing extraordinary things with their lives. No matter where you are at currently in life, these videos are sure to stir up your emotions and challenge you to lead your life to it’s highest potential. Here is a collection of 5 of my favorite inspirational and motivational videos I’ve found online.
Living Life Nomadic – The Road Less Traveled
I got tired of feeling pulled into the false promise that has you putting your nose to the grindstone day after day. Working excessive hours just to enable you to have what others do not have. Instead I’ve decided that life is too precious so I’m going to live it as well as I can, and enjoy it at every opportunity.
How To Disconnect From The World And Gain A Greater Appreciation
Living in the middle of a concrete jungle makes it hard to appreciate nature. The closest thing you are to nature often times is the local park cleared for sporting events with trees dotted around the edges. In the midst of our overburdened city life, we can often times forget to simply appreciate simple things like a clear night sky. I too under appreciated the virtues of nature and how much going back to nature can have on maintaining a healthy and stress free life.
Earl Nightingale’s – The Strangest Secret
Before the hype of “The Secret – The Movie” and their marketing about the law of attraction, there was one person who succinctly presented the message in a simple and profound way. Earl Nightingale is a pioneer of the personal development phenomenon and his recording of “The Strangest Secret” has sold over a million copies. It is the only gold record ever achieved for the spoken word. What I liked about the recording is it’s simple and timeless truth. I have listened to this recording several times and I only wished I had heard it earlier in my life.
